Malaga Elementary is a kindergarten-5th grade elementary school in the Fowler Unified School District.  Malaga School is a small, neighborhood school located between downtown Fresno and Fowler. It’s the kind of small, personable school in which school staff know each child and their family. Many students have numerous extended family members who also attend Malaga School.  Some students even have parents and grandparents who attended Malaga School.

We are traditional in some ways and state-of-the-art in others. We are equipped with one to one tech devices in all of our classrooms, Kindergarten through fifth grade, including in our after school program to meet current state standards.  All of our students track their learning via digital portfolios and data binders to support our key focus of Visible Learning.

Malaga School has numerous extra curricular activities that address a variety of areas of child development. Our before and after-school programs, known as Falcon Club, offer tutoring in reading, computer technology, enrichment in arts, arts and crafts, gardening, cooking and nutrition. Students have various after school opportunities to engage in academic discourse such as Enrichment, Odyssey of the Mind, Jr. Lego, and Student Council.  We also offer our 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students an opportunity to participate in Falcon Dreamers, a character development and service learning program.

Our monthly Family Nights offer parents and their children  the opportunity to learn more about our academic expectations in a fun, entertaining way.   Some of these events include Super Science Night, Library Night, Technology Night, Math Night, and Literacy Night.  Parents are also encouraged to join our small but mighty Parent Club, School Site Council (SSC), or the English Learner Advisor Committee (ELAC).

As important as academics are, we also realize how important it is to have a strong character and contribute positively to our community.  All of our students participate in some type of service learning project where they learn to give back to others.  Malaga Elementary School has been awarded the Bonner Center for Character Education Award which is a testimony of just how important civic and character education is in our district.

Most recently, we were honored with the California Honor Roll award and the California Distinguished Schools award, one of 13 schools in Fresno County to qualify for this honor based on state assessment scores.

The entire staff looks forward to continuing its partnership with parents and community members in order to offer students the best, well-rounded education possible.
